Beta Setup

What you need

• JRiver Media Center installed and running.
• JRiver Media Network enabled and configured for remote access.
• Your JRiver Access Key.
• Your JRiver Media Network username and password.
• An Alexa device signed into the Amazon account added to the eMCee beta.

1. Accept the beta invitation

Open the beta-test link provided to you while signed into the same Amazon account used by your Alexa device. Accept the beta invitation and enable eMCee.

2. Link your JRiver account

Choose Link Account for eMCee. On the eMCee linking page enter:

• JRiver Access Key
• JRiver username
• JRiver password

Leave the port override set to Auto unless you have a specific reason to override it.

3. Test eMCee

On some Alexa devices, you may need to say Alexa, open the eMCee skill.

Play Doctor Setup

Play Doctor uses JRiver Media Center to build a dynamically generated playlist based on an artist, genre, or composer.

Before using Play Doctor

1. Open JRiver Media Center on the computer linked to eMCee.
2. Confirm that Play Doctor is available and works directly inside JRiver.
3. If your JRiver installation uses a dedicated zone named eMCee Play Doctor, leave that zone available. eMCee will use it when present.
4. For a dedicated Play Doctor zone, set its audio device to Null Value. This prevents the temporary JRiver-side seed playback from being heard through the computer while eMCee builds the list.

Using Play Doctor with eMCee

After the request, eMCee asks JRiver to generate the Play Doctor list, reads the resulting tracks, and then plays them on your Alexa device.
